When the limo driver refuses to pick up Paul from the airport without an ID, Paul mistakes Rose for Lily
and accepts money from her to hop a cab to the hospital to see his mother. There, he is reunited with Jennifer and Hal who
update him on Craig's latest activities and that Barbara moved her hand while Jennifer chatted with her. He's suspicious when
he's introduced to Bryant, Craig's son. Bob reports that Barbara's hand movement is a good sign but tests reveal nothing else
new. Paul promises his mother that he'll make Craig pay for what he has done. Holden uncovers a wall panel filled with insulation
and guesses it may lead an escape. He tries to overcome an English-speaking guard but fails and is forced to hand over his
wedding ring. Dressed to make love, Katie wakes Simon and starts to kiss him passionately. They finally stop as Simon confesses
that he's still not in love with her. However, small talk leads to more kisses until Rose interrupts, pounding on the door.
She makes a snide remark about Simon being in bed with Katie and then explains that Lily is on her way to Malta after getting
a note from Luke. Rose pleads with him to help Lily on behalf of Lucinda and offers him a blank check. Furious, Simon lays
into Rose and then vows to give Lucinda his answer personally. On the flight to Malta, Lily accepts an off from a Senora Cordina
to rent a room. Cordina then calls the guard to report her success with Lily.

In his mother's hospital room, Paul reads through a collection of papers sent from the New York BRO office
and boasts to his comatose mother that he now has everything needed to prosecute Craig. He then realizes Craig was using BRO
money to buy stock in Worldwide. Abigail shows Molly a mug shot of her she found on the City Times web site. With tears in
her eyes, Molly admits it's a legitimate photo of a time when she made a mistake but urges her to get past this. Meanwhile,
Jake meets with a minister about details for the upcoming wedding and is reminded of his years growing up in Lassiter. Molly
arrives and suggests that they keep the wedding small and private but he senses something's bothering her. She finally reveals
the mug shot but he points out his own troubles with the long arm of the law as proof that he doesn't care about her past.
Adam helps Abigail deal with her mother's insecurities and the two share a kiss. Simon arrives at Lucinda's place and interrupts
a very bitter meeting between Lucinda and Craig. After Craig leaves, Lucinda pleads with Simon to help Lily in Malta, not
for her sake but for Lily's. He finally comes around and agrees but refuses any of her money, suggesting that it be better
that he keep his arrival low key. He gives a love-starved Katie the news who insists on going with him. When Craig confronts
Paul in Barbara's hospital room, he denies hurting Barbara. Paul arranges for Craig to be arrested for leaving town while
under court orders to remain in Oakdale. Emily and Hal invite Tom to help uncover the source of the bomb that hurt Barbara.
Tom insists it's the type used by the CIA but adds anyone has access to that information.

At the airport, while Lucinda is giving a reluctant Simon last-minute instructions, Katie dons a nun's habit
and fast-talks her way onto the flight with a cheap ticket. Meanwhile, Lily arrives at Senora Cordina's house and takes her
room with a view. The "helpful" woman urges her not to travel to the castle Holden described in his note but Lily ignores
her and is caught snooping by the guard who's been watching Holden. She's stunned to find a bullet-riddled room splattered
with blood and starts crying hysterically. Simon arrives and urges her not to assume the worst, even after he finds Holden's
wedding ring on the floor. Holden and Luke make plans to cause a disturbance during the opera being performed next door. Katie
lands in Malta and steals a bicycle in order to follow Simon. Ben is amazed to find Lien trying to get out of bed. She reports
that she is feeling much better and John confirms that her recovery from an almost certain death is remarkable. Pointing out
that Ben spent a lot of time in her hospital room over the 4th, John also mentions that Bob felt someone may have injected
extra medicine into her IV. Tom arrives and is thrilled by his daughter's recovery. Though Tom argues that she has a right
to know what was done to save her life, Ben asks him not to tell Lien about his use of the foreign drug because he doesn't
want her to feel obligated to him. Tom warns that Lien's not going to stop asking him what saved her life. Ben's caught off
guard when Lien admits that her encounter with death has put her future in question and their relationship on hold.

As Lily collapses in his arms, Simon comforts her and then tries to convince her that the bloody room has
too many bullet holes for a simple killing of a father and his son. When she calms down long enough to stop crying. He then
wonders aloud why they would remove Holden's wedding ring and not take it with them. Simon guesses that Damian is behind this
scheme to make her believe that Holden and Luke are dead. Meeting Cordina at the villa, Simon suggests to Lily that it was
no coincidence to run into the perfect person on the flight to Malta. Meanwhile, Holden and Luke try to put their plan into
action as the opera rehearsal gets underway next door. Holden overhears that an American woman has been asking questions.
After her chain comes off the bike she stole, Katie hitches a ride with a man who speaks no English and makes her way to Simon
who is sharing a room with Lily. Paul runs into Rose at Lucinda's and thanks her for rescuing him at the airport. She urges
him to urge Jessica to file more charges against Craig in order to improve their chances of keeping Craig in jail. At the
station house Jessica urges Jack to find more evidence against Craig. Margo is outraged to discover that her brother is back
in jail and starts to blast Jack for going behind her back. Jack and Jessica point out that she was caught on surveillance
tape meeting Craig at the airport which raises a question about her objectivity in this case. Paul arrives and announces that
he was behind Craig's re-arrest.

Unaware that Craig can't answer the door because he's in jail, Carly slides some of her sketches under the
door to his suite. Jack argues with Carly about working a second job in order to make ends meet so that she won't have to
work for Craig. Carly's embarrassed further when Jack leaks that Craig was tossed in jail again and won't be released because
he left town. Noshing at Al's Diner, Rose offers to help Paul gain access to Craig's suite and, ordering him to close his
eyes, demonstrates how well she can "play Lily." She's pleased to hear him compliment her on her many talents. Rushing to
the Lakeview, Rose poses as Lily to gain access to Craig's suite. Inside, Paul spots the envelope containing the sketches
and later catches Carly as she tries to retrieve them. Lily and Simon blast Katie after she catches them in Lily's room in
Malta. They warn her about the danger surrounding them. Simon's guess about the landlady's loyalty is confirmed when he overhears
her barking orders over the phone to "move them." Remembering from Jack that Hal thinks Craig did not try to kill Barbara,
Margo seeks Hal's help in Barbara's hospital room. When he mentions learning that Craig tried to find out how to build a bomb,
Margo reveals that Craig years ago attempted to kill Steve Andropolous who was in love with Betsy, the woman Craig desperately
loved. Hal reluctantly assures his worried friend that he will do all he can to help her. As they leave, Barbara opens her
eyes and reaches for Hal but is unable to get his attention.

Jack's surprised to find Jennifer at Al's Diner waiting for Bryant. She lets him know that Carly was mistaken
about having to retrieve Parker since he'll be with Hal all night. Catching Carly trying to retrieve her designs, Paul introduces
himself and lets her have it for trying to take creative control of the company from his mother. He refuses to let her have
the designs back and boasts that they are the motive that will send Craig to prison. She slaps him after Paul accuses her
of being nothing but a high-priced prostitute for Craig. Jack interrupts with search warrant in hand and is furious to find
Paul has disobeyed him and Carly lied to him. Paul blasts him for thinking that the Oakdale police department is handling
the attack on his mother. Jack threatens to arrest him but Paul calls his bluff and points out that "Craig's designer" might
know something. Carly finally confesses that she had agreed to help Craig create a new spring line and didn't want him to
know. Jack wonders aloud how this big lie could help their relationship. Margo hands Tom her letter of resignation and bemoans
her fear that she has ruined her career. Tom convinces her to remain on the force because he knows that she can make a difference.
Lucinda hands Bryant the papers that give him control of his fully-funded trust fund. He runs to Jennifer and offers to take
her to Paris. She won't have anything to do with his trust fund money because it came from Barbara and calls it cursed. She
asks him to give it back or she won't have anything to do with him.

When Ben leaks to his brother that he found a cure for Lien's disease, he swears Isaac to silence because
the drug has still not been approved by the FDA. Isaac guesses that Ben's going to lose his job once word gets out about his
actions. Isaac also assumes that Ben's been pressuring Lien to be with him. Meanwhile, Tom is forced to confide in Lien that
Ben saved her life with the administering of an unapproved experimental drug. He asks her not to tell Ben. Later, Ben admits
to Lien that he wants to be with her but doesn't want to pressure her. She assures him that he is the man for her, calling
him the man who saved her life. In Malta Simon brings a policeman to the villa to force Cordina to tell them what she knows
about the missing Holden and Luke. Cordina denies having any knowledge of the two missing Americans. The policeman recognizes
Katie's description and arrests her for stealing the ambassador's bicycle from the airport. In jail Katie unknowingly learns
the meaning of Argotti, the word Cordina mentioned on the phone, but is unable to contact Simon or Lily with the news that
Argotti is the local opera house. Holden and Luke make plans to escape from their cell tomorrow. When the guard arrives and
announces that he's taking Luke with him, the boy pretends to be sick in order to get a few more moments alone with his father.

As a way of rewarding Molly and Jake for rescuing Matthew, Lucinda offers to throw them an all-expenses
paid wedding at her home. Molly and Jake quickly thank her for her offer but try to convince her that it's too generous in
hopes that she'll back off. Instead, Lucinda becomes more insistent until the two agree to let her handle their nuptials.
Hal is caught off guard when Jack approaches him at Al's for help with his relationship with Carly. Hal can't believe that
anyone would seek advice about affairs of the heart from him after his many failed marriages. Jack admits that Carly feels
he's sabotaging her efforts to have a career. Pointing out all that led to his divorce from Barbara, Hal urges Jack to accept
Carly for who she is, as hard as that may be. Emily brings Hal check out cards for all the military books in the library and
tries to find out who has been reading them. They laugh to find most have been checked out by Nancy. Bringing in photos and
CDs of her favorite music to her hospital room, Jennifer and Paul do their best to try to get Barbara to emerge from her coma.
They argue about what Barbara's feelings toward Craig may be once she comes to. Jessica interrupts and warns that if Barbara
fails to wake, it's likely that Craig will go free because Cass has arranged for a judge to rule at a bail hearing today.
Their efforts are rewarded when Barbara finally wakes after a violent convulsion. Paul's relieved but disappointed when he
discovers that she's unable to talk.

Molly and Jake are unnerved when Jake receives a package containing a t-shirt with Molly's police mug shot
emblazoned on the front of it, the same photo found on the web site. Realizing this is more than a prank, Jake decides to
call Margo. Mary the nanny explains when the package was delivered and Aidan from downstairs claims the package appeared mysteriously.
Jack and Carly discuss their future and their feelings about being left out of the other's careers. Aware of her surroundings,
Barbara finally says her first words since coming out of her coma and asks "Where's Hal?" Paul and Jennifer update her on
Adam and how Paul came to Oakdale. They both realize that Barbara doesn't know she's in a hospital and explain that there
was an accident which burned her. They assure Barbara that her injuries will be fixed. While she is taken away for tests,
Paul calls Jack to come to the hospital to question Barbara. Later, Paul worries when he realizes that his mother has no memory
of what happened at the boat house. Bryant argues with Lucinda about his trust fund as he explains that he can't take the
money Craig stole from Barbara to replenish the fund. Later, Paul asks Bryant about his future and as they talk, Bryant changes
his mind and decides to use the trust fund money.
7/23/01
Worried about his mother's memory, Paul decides to ask Barbara about moments from her past in order to find
out just what she does and doesn't remember. Both are frustrated when his impromptu test reveals that she has an incomplete
recollection of all that has happened since the night of the boat house explosion. For the first time since the accident,
Barbara looks into a mirror and is shocked to see what she looks like. She vows to seek revenge for what has happened to her
and Paul repeats his theory that Carly and Craig are to blame. At the police station, Molly gets the chance to interview Craig.
When she mentions that Barbara has emerged from her coma, Craig insists that his wife will soon set him free from jail and
any thought that he was responsible for the bomb at the boathouse. Confronted about all the military library books she's been
checking out, Nancy talks to Hal and Emily about her volunteer work at the hospital and how she arranges for the delivery
of library books to patients. She does admit that she has no way of knowing which books go to which patients. Hal rushes to
her hospital room when he's told that Barbara has asked for him.
7/24/01
With Paul nearby, Barbara insists to Jack, Jessica and Margo that Craig was the man at the boathouse who
tried to kill her. When Margo asks if she might be confused, Barbara again states that she is not. She then upsets Jack when
she announces that Craig was in cahoots with Carly. Jack angrily denies it but Jessica finally asks them all to leave and
agrees to continue the deposition later. After they leave, Paul stuns Barbara with the news that Craig slipped out to New
York and fired half the BRO staff. Outside in the hallway, Jack seeks confirmation from Hal that Carly couldn't be involved.
Hal won't help and Jessica advises Jack to get Carly an attorney. Meanwhile, Cass somberly reports to Craig that Barbara named
him as the man who tried to kill her. Hal's disappointed when Paul stops him from entering Barbara's hospital room and asks
him to wait until Barbara asks to see him. Out on bail again, Craig confronts Barbara who allows him inside her room. She
angrily blasts him for trying to burn her to death. Later, someone knocks out Barbara's guard while Craig finds Carly waiting
for him. Katie tells Lily and Simon about the opera house in Malta. Simon bails her out of jail and then takes a moment to
argue with Lily about whether he loves Katie or not. Still held captive, Holden advises Luke on how to get help once he escapes
from their cell.
